Home Invasion outside Detroit

Burglary suspect is expected to recover after being shot in the hand by a homeowner he attempted to rob.

Bloomfield Township police said two men forced their way into a home in the 1600 block of Bloomfield Place, near Square Lake and Telegraph roads, about 9:30 p.m. Monday and demanded money.

The homeowner agreed to give them money and led one of the suspects to a bedroom.

“In the bedroom the victim grabbed a firearm, a struggle ensued and the resident shot at the suspect,” said Lt. Phil Langmeyer. “The struggle continued and the suspects ultimately left the residence.”

The homeowner fired another round as the suspects were fleeing, Langmeyer said.

Oakland County Sheriff deputies found the injured suspect at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, where he sought treatment for his gunshot wound. He was questioned and arrested, before being transported to Beaumont Hospital for additional treatment.

Police are searching for the second suspect, described as a white man, in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark coat and stocking cap and oh yeah is probably bleeding profusely from a gun shot wound.
